Richard L. “Dick” Jackson, of Monument Beach, MA passed away July 19, 2019 at Bourne Manor, aged 89. He was the loving husband of 60 years to his wife, Eileen (Lohr) Jackson, with whom he shared the home he built for many happy years.
The last surviving child of the late Ernest W. and Dorothy (Lewis) Jackson, Dick was preceded in death by brother Laurence Jackson and sister Dorothy Bilodeau. A native Cape Codder, he was born in Hyannis and graduated from Bourne High School with the class of 1948. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, serving for 13 years, including during the Korean War. Following his military service, Dick was a long time self-employed carpenter, a caretaker of the Old Bourne Cemetery, and an active member of the Bourne Historical Society.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Nancy L. Hoff, and her husband Douglas of Madbury, NH; grandchildren, Nathan Hoff and his wife Angharad of Waitsfield, VT and Rebecca Hoff of Boston, MA; and his nephew Robert W. Bilodeau and his siblings Linda, Paul, David, Judy, Michael, and Stephen.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 17, 2019. Visitation will be prior to the service 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 40 MacArthur Blvd., Bourne, MA. Burial at the Old Bourne Cemetery.
