Michael Thayer Shields

He leaves his loving wife of 46 years, Catherine Shields; two wonderful, grown children: Michael Thayer Shields Jr of Edgewater, Maryland and his wife Lorrice; and Lisa Shields of Pocasset, his much loved grandchildren: Andrew, Brady, and Riley Shields, his devoted sister, Elizabeth Clark of Plymouth and his nieces, Jaime Shortall and Stephanie Clark, and his grand dog Frankie.

Born in Braintree, MA; he was the son of the late John and Virginia Shields. He graduated from Braintree High School.

Mike began working in the car sales business in 1976 was well know throughout the auto industry. Mike worked as a sales representative for Battles GMC of Bourne, MA for the last nine years.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, shopping, and spoiling his grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be held from 4 to 7 pm on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 in the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 40 MacArthur Blvd. in Bourne. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Thursday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 841 Shore Road in Pocasset. A private burial will be held at a later date.
