He grew up in a vibrant Italian household surrounded by a close-knit extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins. After graduating from Milford High School he served his country in the Coast Guard from 1959 – 1963, stationed in both Newport, RI and Boston, MA. From there he went on to learn the trade of flower arranging, working for his Aunt Elena at Sestito Florists in Cohasset, MA and later for Barber Brothers Florist in Framingham, MA. After his marriage to Mary he began working as a salesperson and eventually got a job with Hobart Corporation where he advanced in his career from sales to management. Retiring at age 59, he worked for several years at the Cape Cod Vocational School and Taylor Point Marina. Mike and Mary enjoyed several years spending the winters in FL in the company of many good friends.
Michael was an outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish and take care of his gardens and yard to perfection. He took much pride in his home and cared for it lovingly. His greatest pride and joy came his 4 grandchildren and his trusty companion, Rusty (a 6 year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel).
