Maureen Agnes Kent

Kent, Maureen A. (Barry) 92 of Pocasset MA Passed away peacefully on December 24th at Falmouth Hospital. She was born in Medford MA to the late Timothy Patrick and Mary Agnes Barry (Shield) on January 21, 1930. Maureen graduated from high school in 1947 at Mount St. Joseph Academy in Brighton MA. She then continued her education at Regis College in Weston MA, receiving a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1951. After graduation she worked as a teacher in Everett MA.

In 1952 Maureen married her high school sweetheart, Alfred S. Kent. This past summer they celebrated 70 years of marriage. She retired from teaching, and they moved to Concord MA where they raised a family of five children. Maureen loved the town of Concord where she was a volunteer in the schools and throughout the community. The family moved to Pocasset in 1983 where she volunteered at the Thornton W. Burgess Society Green Briar Nature Center. Maureen was an avid gardener and an active member of the local garden club.

Maureen was predeceased by her sister Rita Gleason (Barry), grandson Ryan P. Kent and her son Matthew J. Kent. She is survived by her loving husband Alfred S. Kent of Pocasset MA, daughter Kathleen M. Kertes (Kent) and husband Kerry of Cape Elizabeth ME, sons Stephen P. Kent and wife Donna of Bedford MA, Barry M. Kent and wife Victoria of Falmouth MA, and Christopher T. Kent and wife Donna of Cataumet MA. She will also be greatly missed by her 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

A private Graveside Ceremony will take place at the Massachusetts National Cemetery.
