Marita "Bunny" Nakashian

Marita was born in Malden, MA and graduated from Stoneham High School in 1948. She then went on to work as a bookkeeper at Malden Trust Bank in Malden, MA. She met her husband Richard "Dick" Nakashian at the Sandy Island Family Camp on Lake Winnipesaukee, NH. They married in June of 1951.

During their 63 years of marriage, she and Dick built a family and a company, Bay State, Spray and Provincetown Steamship Company, cultivating many life-long friendships along the way. When they finally retired, Dick, Bunny and their German Shepherd dog sailed and cruised almost year round for over 25 years from Newfoundland, Canada to Cuba.

15 years ago, Dick's devotion to Marita was expressed in the construction and dedication of a 50' trawler named "Marita". In between, Marita managed to fill in quality time with family and friends as well as her beloved cats, Mollie & Fred. Marita was also passionate about her high school classmates whom she held dear her entire life and would organize class reunions in her later years until her death.

Marita was passionate about her family first and foremost. She leaves behind her husband, Richard of 63 years, her children, Edward Nakashian and wife Jing Lin of Peabody, MA, Robert Nakashian and his wife Kathleen Giles of Marion, MA, her daughter, Janet Sinclair and her husband Robert Sinclair of Sherborn, MA. Marita also cherished her grandchildren and was so very proud of each and every one. For grandchildren, Marita leaves behind Edward and Jing Nakashian’s sons Louis Nakashian and James Nakashian and Robert and Kathleen Nakashian’s children Martha Nakashian and John "Jack" Nakashian.

Friends may share respects with the family from 4 to 8 pm Tuesday Dec. 30th , 2014 at the Nickerson Bourne Funeral Home, 40 MacArthur Blvd. Bourne. Memorial services will be at 10:30 am Wednesday Dec. 31st at the North Falmouth Congregational Church, 155 Old Main Road, North Falmouth, with Rev. Fred Meade officiating.
