She was born on September 1, 1918 in New Bedford, MA, to Joseph M. and Winifred M. Perry. She attended and graduated from Bourne high school in 1937.
She spent her entire life in Monument Beach growing up on County Road in a home that had been built by her family in the 1700’s. Since 1951 she resided on Crump Road.
On Mabel’s paternal side she descended from the first Cape Cod Perry’s who arrived in the 1630’s. On her maternal side she was a descendant of Thomas Rogers, one of the first Plymouth settlers who arrived aboard the Mayflower.
Mabel was united in marriage to Axel Anderson on June 24, 1940, and enjoyed 50 years of marriage to him until his passing on November 13, 1990.
She worked for the Bourne School District as a cafeteria manager. She was a member of the Bourne United Methodist Church and was very active in all UMW activities. Until her death, she was the longest living member. She loved reading and walking, swimming and bird watching. She loved all animals but especially cats. She also enjoyed doing embroidery and sewing. She was an avid beach goer, particularly Monument Beach.
It was her strong wish to live out her life in her own home and she did this with the help of her family, devoted part-time caregivers, kind neighbors, and recently the marvelous services of the VNA of Cape Cod and Visiting Angels of Cape Cod. Mabel’s family is grateful to all who helped her remain at home
Mabel was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Axel, and two brothers, Robert Perry and Richard Perry. Surviving family members are her daughter Susan Parker and husband Gordon of Conway; son Richard Anderson and wife Elizabeth of Monument Beach; three grandchildren Justin Anderson and his wife Heidi Wennemer, Matthew Parker and his wife Carolyn and Mitchell Parker.
