LORRAINE BARBARA SPEKIN FORD was the youngest child of Russian Jewish immigrants, Nathaniel Spekin and Helen Lipson Spekin. She grew up in Brockton, MA surrounded by her siblings – Evelyn, Chester, Maynard, and Leonard. In 1954, she married the one and only, love of her life, Robert Earl Ford (also of Brockton, MA). Her love was so strong that she embraced the radical notion (at that time) of converting to Catholicism so that they could be married in a church. The support of her family never wavered. Lorraine and Robert have three children: Robert James Ford, Cynthia Karen Matos Ford, and Thomas Stephen Ford. In December 1986 the family suffered the loss of husband/father Robert Earl Ford. Lorraine is survived by her three children, 6 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. The branches of the Spekin/Ford family extend far and wide – there is an abundance of nieces/nephews, grandnieces/grandnephews, and great grandnieces/great grandnephews. We know the patience of her husband and believe that his 37-year wait is rewarded with him being reunited with the one and only love of his life (hopefully, there will also be a pet waiting).
Today, we mourn her loss. We hope that in the future the memories of the joy she brought into our lives outweighs our current pain.
In lieu of flowers, we request donations be sent to: St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
