Leonard Francis Higney

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Carol (Devers) Higney; a son, Leonard Higney Jr.; daughters: Debbie Pettazoni, Sandra Woollam, Barbie Carpenter, Janice Urichuk, and Laura Higney; sons-in-law: Gary, Steven and Bob; grandchildren: Louie, Steven, Joshua, Megan, Joe, Kaitlynn, Cortney and Jimmie; great grandchildren: Rileigh, Kaedynn, Kylie, and Lily; as well as her sister, Mary Georgantis.

Leonard was born in 1937 in Providence, RI. At the age of 17, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, retiring as a Master Sergeant after 20 years of service. He then was employed by the U.S. Postal Service in 1974, while also attending Cape Cod Community College. He retired as Supervisor of Maintenance in Sagamore, MA in 1993.

Leonard loved his family, gardening, and his home. His family loved Leonard (Len, Lenny) very much. He will be missed by all and always loved and remembered by his family.

Visiting hours will be held from 2 to5 pm on Sunday, May 5, 2013 in the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 40 MacArthur Blvd. in Bourne. At the request of the family, funeral services and burial in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne will be private.
