She was the daughter of Lester and Ina Marchand and had eight siblings.
Joan was married to Kevin Downs for fifty years and is survived by Kevin and her two sons Terry and Brian. She is also survived by the light of her life her three grandchildren Michael, Katelyn and Jackson Downs.
Joan was a published author and loved painting and art. She was a member of the First Spiritual Church of Onset and the Wigwam Spiritual Church. Joan was a practiced Medium and loved her spirituality.
Joan worked and retired from the Buzzards Bay Water District as a treasurer.
She spent her retired years spreading both light and love to all.
A service will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 12, 2021.
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting that donations be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
