Jane Haward Ferris, 87, of Wellesley, Dover, Medfield, Sedona AZ, Yarmouth and most recently, Pocasset, MA, died peacefully at Royal Megansett Nursing Home on Sunday October 10, 2021. Jane was the daughter of Susie (Woodford) and William Haward. The youngest of three, she grew up in Wellesley with her older brothers Doug and Dick, whom she adored.
She graduated from Dana Hall in Wellesley, and attended Colby Jr. College in New London, NH. Jane was married to Jim Ferris from 1956 to 1975. Together, they lived in Dover where they had four children, Susan, Ham, Bill and Ann. Jane was a devoted Mom who loved raising her children. She enjoyed her many friends, the Dover community, the Dover Church and family vacations in Bermuda.
In 1983, Jane moved to Medfield where she lived in a small home on three wooded acres and later moved to Arizona, where she spent a few years exploring the beauty of the Sedona area and the vibrant arts community. Jane moved to Yarmouth in 2003, where she truly enjoyed Cape Cod living, nature, being outdoors & being close to the ocean. During that time, she worked as a private home health aide. In 2015 Jane joined the community at Cape Cod Senior Residences in Pocasset. There she enjoyed many activities, the great food and the strong, caring bonds she created with staff and residents.
Most of all, Jane loved spending time with her family and her grandchildren, Mike, Nick, Austin and Hannah. She was an avid reader, a collector of antiques, and she stayed current on politics. She loved good food, enjoyed walks on the beach and bird watching. Jane is survived by her four children, Susan Philipp (and her husband Jim) of Orange, CA, Hamilton Ferris (and his partner Lori) of Pocasset, MA, William Ferris (and his wife Heidi) of Norfolk, MA & Ann Ferris (and her partner John) of Hollis, NH. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Michael Ferris, Nicholas Ferris, Austin Philipp and Hannah Philipp and by her nieces and nephews.
