Henry was born August 23, 1942, to Andrew Henry and Leola Ruth (Benoit) Anderson of Bournedale. He graduated from Bourne High School in 1960 and entered the United States Army in 1963. After serving his country in the US Army, he returned home to Bournedale and attended Cape Cod Community College. Chuck secured a position with Buzzards Bay National Bank for 14 years as Internal Auditor, worked for the Town of Bourne as Assistant Tax Collector for a time before moving on to work for the State of Massachusetts in the department of revenue until his retirement in 1994. Henry lived a peaceful and quiet life on Cape Cod.
Henry (‘Chuck’ to his family) had a passion for all kinds of music. He was extremely talented, wrote songs and jingles, and loved entertaining his family with the little ditties he had written. He was a self-taught pianist and guitar player and relished in sitting around with his uncles and cousins playing music and having some good laughs. He was so competent and fun-loving at his craft that he inspired others to want to learn, and taught cousins to play both piano and guitar. Chuck had a curious mind, was a history buff, and had been authoring a book based on the Indians of Cape Cod. He enjoyed discussing history, politics, but most of all music and had strong opinions on them all. Chuck was always clowning around and cracking silly jokes, which his nieces and nephew dubbed ‘Chuck joke, Chuck joke!’ always making everyone chuckle, hence his nickname ‘Uncle Chuckles’. He was a huge fan of the Boston Red Sox and loved baseball. Like most men, Chuck carried all the stats of his favorite players around in his head and rattled them off anytime you had a conversation about them. He was a dedicated son to his mother, Ruth, especially after his father passed away in 1993. Chuck will be truly missed by his sisters, nieces and nephews, and extended family, of which there are many. With sadness in our hearts, we say ‘good-bye for now Chuck’.
Henry is survived by his sisters, Judith A. Soucie of Sudbury, MA, and Marilyn A. Guerrera (Matthew) of Seabrook, NH, his nieces, Kimberly S. Matheson of Marlborough, MA, Janet S. Anton (Bob) of Medway, MA, and his nephew, Andrew M. Soucie (Margaret) of Bourne, MA as well as his great-nieces and nephew, Jillian Ruth, Emily Leola, Harrison Callahan, and Olivia Lettie; and so many loving cousins.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Henry and Leola Ruth Anderson.
