Frank Joseph Adamo of Bourne, MA passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2022 in Simsbury CT.
Born in Queens, NY, Frank was a son of the late Joseph and Christine (Nowlin) Adamo. Frank joined the Air Force in the 1960s and pursued a career as an air traffic controller. He worked at the Otis Air Force Base for many years. He also earned his pilot’s license in the early 1970s.
Frank had many talents, interests, and passions. He loved golf, baseball, football, quahogging, cooking, and telling jokes. He was a huge fan of music, played several instruments, and loved to do karaoke. He was an animal lover, especially dogs.
But his real calling was as an artist. Some of the first works he did as an artist were building model ships, three of which were put in the Nantucket Lifesaving Museum. He was an accomplished artist, known on the Cape and beyond for his award-winning bird and fish carvings. He shared his passion and skills by teaching carving and painting classes in his workshop.
Frank was a people-person. He dearly loved his family and friends. His compassion for others showed in the many ways he sought to help others.
He is survived by his children and their spouses: Chris & Amy Adamo of Ridgefield, NJ and Cyndi & Scot MacCluggage of Simsbury, CT; he is also survived by two brothers: Joseph Adamo of Ridgefield, NJ and William Adamo of White Plains, NY.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 4th from 4pm to 8pm at Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 40 MacArthur Blvd., Bourne, MA. A funeral service will take place in the funeral home on Thursday, January 5th at 11:30am with burial to follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA.
