Doug was born in Falmouth, MA on August 15, 1981, to Deborah A. Rose and Joseph K. Halstead Sr. He grew up in East Falmouth, MA and attended Falmouth High School. From the young age of 12 Doug worked alongside his grandfather William “Bill” Rose Sr. caring for and maintaining the Rodrigues family estate. From that early age, Doug he excelled rapidly. He operated all the different equipment, including tractors, riding mowers, plows, snow blowers, and all tools necessary to maintain the estate. Doug also learned how to repair all the different tools he used. He could take something apart and put it back together no manual needed. He was extremely talented. After High School, Doug learned how to install drywall with his Uncle David Rose and Doug Barrows as his instructors. He excelled in this trade as well, always taking pride in his work while working for his uncle whom he had a very special bond. After many years of installing drywall, he learned how to install wood floors with his best friend Jeremy Doyle. Alongside Jeremy, Doug was employed by “The Sand Man”, again sharing a very close bond with boss Chris Leach and loved him very much. Doug took pride in whatever he did, and his work was always praised.
When Doug wasn’t working, he enjoyed spending time with his children, family, and friends. Most days after work you could find Doug at his uncle Billy Rose Jr.’s shop or at Menauhant Beach with his uncle David and friends. Doug had a very special bond with his uncles Billy and David who were more like fathers than uncles. Doug has numerous friends and everyone he crossed paths with, admired him dearly. He had a heart of gold. His children were his pride and joy.
