Caroline Mayer (Feuereisen), 100 years old of Buzzards Bay, MA passed away on August 18, 2023, just two days after her loving husband Edward R. Mayer 101 years old, passed away on August 16, 2023. They met at the age of 16, married at the ages of 22 and 23 and were married for 78 years. Caroline was the daughter of the late Henry and Regina (Fuchs) Feuereisen and the sister to the late Charles Feuereisen. Edward was the son of the late Edward and Alma Mayer (Miller) and a brother to the late Edna Pfaff (Mayer) and Robert Mayer.
Caroline grew up in the Bronx where she attended Walton high school. She was very active in the League of Woman Voters and pursued a career in banking where she ultimately became a Vice President at Milton Savings Bank in Massachusetts.
Edward served in WWII as a Quartermaster in the Navy from 1942 to 1945. Upon his return from the service, Caroline and Edward married. He then attended Syracuse University on the GI bill. Edward graduated with a Civil Engineering degree and worked for Whitman and Howard in Boston, MA for the majority of his career.
Edward and Caroline raised their two daughters in Scituate, MA. As a family, they enjoyed sailing and spent their winters skiing. During their retirement years they were fortunate to have the opportunity to travel and see different parts of the world.
Edward and Caroline are survived by their daughters; Susan (David) Jarvi of Plymouth, MA, Beth (Michael) Donowick of Long Valley, NJ, grandchildren; Elise (Charu) Jadhav, Christopher Jarvi, Jake (Alyssa) Donowick, Derek (Emily) Donowick and a great grandchild Maya Jadhav.
The family will be having a memorial celebration of life with residents and staff members of their most recent home at Keystone Place, Buzzards Bay, MA.
