Mr. Brian B. Mahoney, age 69, of Mashpee, formerly of Falmouth and Duxbury, died Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. He was the beloved husband of Suzanne “Suzie” (Smith) Mahoney with whom he shared nearly 10 years of marriage.
Born in Bangor, Maine and raised in Weymouth, Brian was the son of the late Martin and Dorothy (Bradshaw) Mahoney. He graduated from Weymouth High School Class of 1962. Known for his great personality, Brian loved to visit with family and friends. He will always be remembered as a loyal and genuine person who loved the Red Sox and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He often spent time at the Tinder Box discussing politics and sports over a cigar or enjoying a quiet afternoon on his back deck sporting his straw hat with his beloved dog, Ralphie by his side. Above all else in Brian’s life, his true devotion was to his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough have to known him.
In addition to his wife, Brian is survived by his children, Brad Mahoney and wife Silver of Hingham, Amanda Mahoney Kuhn and husband Shane of CO, Peter Haslam and wife Cindy of IL and Andrew Haslam and wife Maggie of MD. He is also survived by his sisters, Patricia Drusin and husband Howard of Carver, Pamela McElroy and husband Joseph of Hanson, Mary MacDonald and husband John of Falmouth, Martha Mahoney-Wilson and husband Randy of Seekonk, Sally Adams and husband William of Falmouth and Dorothy Burst and husband Jeff of CO, brother, William Mahoney and wife Marge of Falmouth. He was the grandfather of Mason, Kiki, DeLorey, Kenny, Frederick, Michael, Drew, Lilah and Phoebe. Brian was predeceased by his brother, Martin B. Mahoney, Jr.
Visiting hours will be at the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 40 MacArthur Blvd., Bourne on Monday, April 22, from 2-4 and 6-9 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, April 23, at 11 AM at St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 481 Quaker Road, North Falmouth.
