Benjamin Joseph (BJ) Kreder passed away on May 10, 2021, having celebrated his birthday of 100 years on March 30, 2021. He is survived by his beloved wife of 78 years, Rosemary Kreder (Melograno), his two daughters, Christine Kreder Stoughton and Sharon Veronique Kreder, his son-in-law, Eric Hanson and his four grandchildren, Zachary Stoughton, Samantha Stoughton, Alexandra Hanson and Elizabeth Hanson. A treasured family patriarch and beloved Uncle Ben, he is also survived by his many caring nieces and nephews.
Ben was born in Seltzer, PA and graduated from Pottsville High School in 1938. He married the love of his life, Rosemary, on November 21, 1942. A member of the greatest generation, he served as a Navy Aviation Machinist’s Mate, 1st class, during World War II. After the war he pursued his lifelong dream of a career in aviation. He began and remained with American Airlines, working his way from mechanic to AO General Foreman, to Director of Engineering and Maintenance-- American Airlines/East Coast. Family was central to Ben, and he cherished his role of son, brother, husband, father, uncle, and grandfather. He told corny dad jokes, gave sage advice, and treated others with boundless love and generosity. Those fortunate to have been in his orbit have been truly blessed. We will carry the gift of his kind essence with us forever.
A Celebration of Benjamin Kreder’s life will be held in the Fall of 2021, date to be determined.
A burial will be held September 16th, 2021 at 1:15pm at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Ave. Bourne, MA
