William “Bill” Walsdorf, age 91, died September 15, 2022. He was born on September 9, 1931 in New Holstein WI to Isadore “Doc” and Johanna Walsdorf. Out of high school he joined the Air Force and served as a medic aid in the Korean War. He then went to University of Wisconsin at Madison, where he got his biology degree. In school at Madison, he met his wife Mary Ricker, and they married in Portland, OR April 7, 1962. His career with the US Fish and Wildlife Service took them to salmon fish hatcheries all over the Northwest. They had two children, Susan and Pete, and grandchildren, Sam, Tara, and Luke. They eventually worked and retired in Leavenworth, WA in 1977 until 2002. Bill and Mary moved to Colorado in 2002 to be closer to their children and grandchildren.
He was an avid deer and bird hunter, and was a lifelong fisherman enjoying all fishing from small perch to pulling in a 30 pound salmon. Hikes were a common outing, and he enjoyed alpine and x-country skiing, tennis, and golf. He never turned down a poker game or casino trip, and he really just loved being out of the house for an outing.
