Thomas Tomkins Warner, 67, of Boulder, Colorado, died suddenly on May 30, 2011. Tom will be missed by his wife, Susan Warner, a son, Cory Warner (Chris) and grandson, Garrett Warner of State College, Pennsylvania, and a stepson, David Lacklen of San Francisco, California.
Tom was a highly respected senior scientist in the Research Applications Laboratory at the National Center for Atmospheric Research and a professor in the Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences at the University of Colorado. He was passionate about his research and dedicated to his students. After earning a B.S and two Masters’ degrees from The Pennsylvania State University, and serving in Vietnam as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army, he was awarded a Ph.D. in Meteorology from Penn State. He was the author of two atmospheric science books used by universities around the world: “Numerical Weather and Climate Prediction” and “Desert Meteorology.”
When he wasn’t traveling around the globe for work, Tom was content pottering in his idyllic yard and vegetable garden. Even after 18 years of marriage, he and Susan met daily for lunch at the Brewing Market, followed by a stroll through McGuckin Hardware.
