Thomas Stuart Rogers

Thomas S. (Tom) Rogers died on April 20, 2018 in Boulder Colorado. He was born August 18, 1922 in Cleveland, Ohio, to Scott A. Rogers and Alice R. Rogers. He married Donna L. Meyer on January 27, 1973 in Denver, Colorado.

Tom attended schools in Shaker Heights, Ohio and completed his Bachelor of Arts degree at Cornell University, Ithaca, N.Y. graduating in 1948. He spent three years in the Army Air Transport Command during World War II.

From 1950 to 1965 Tom was employed by the Higbee Co. department store in Cleveland, Ohio. He eventually moved his family to Denver, Colorado where he took a job with The Denver Dry Goods Department Store. In 1972 Tom relocated to Boulder, Colorado where he purchased a women’s specialty store, Brooks-Fauber. Shortly after, he expanded his business by purchasing two additional women’s specialty stores, Julian’s in Fort Collins, Colorado and China Jones in Boulder. Tom retired in 1986.

Throughout his career Tom served on several Boards; the Board of Directors of the National State Bank, (now the United Bank of Boulder), the Boulder Chamber of Commerce for two separate terms, Boulder Rotary Club, the Colorado Council on Economic Education, Prison Fellowship of Colorado & Downtown Boulder Inc. He participated in many other civic activities and committees. Tom was a long time member of First Presbyterian Church in Boulder & Palm Desert Community Presbyterian Church in Palm Desert, California.

During the years the Downtown Boulder Mall was conceived, planned and completed, Tom served as President of the Downtown Boulder Association; he was very active in the support of downtown Boulder.

For fun & relaxation, he enjoyed golf, tennis, and hiking. Tom was a member of Boulder Country Club & Ironwood Country Club in Palm Desert, CA.

Mr. Rogers is survived by his wife, Donna, his three daughters, Lynn Rogers of Shakopee, MN, Ann Barnsley of Boulder, CO, and Patricia Kinder of Double Oak, TX; six grandchildren & six great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his two brothers, Scott A. Rogers and Edward A. (Ted) Rogers. For the past several years Tom and Donna have enjoyed a winter home at Ironwood in Palm Desert, CA.

Funeral Services will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Boulder, Boulder, Colorado on Saturday May 5, 2018 at 2:00pm. Private burial at Green Mountain Cemetery, Boulder, Colorado prior to the service.
