Stephanie was born on October 12, 1989 at Boulder Community Hospital in Boulder, CO. She attended grade school in private school and Boulder Valley Public Schools. Stephanie was a cheerleader for 4 years, including captain for one year. She was also a member of the National Honor Society and Model United Nations. In 2007 she graduated from Boulder High School.
After visiting several universities nation-wide, Stephanie decided to attend UCLA in Los Angeles. She completed one year, with a GPA of 3.97, majoring in pre-med. She was also a member of the UCLA Stroke Force.
Stephanie had a passion for learning. She loved to jog, and always looked forward to the Bolder Boulder while in high school. She read novels, was interested in current events, and enjoyed music and making CD’s for her friends. She loved her dog, Bubba, who she picked out at the Boulder Valley Humane Society.
Stephanie was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma in July, 2008. She was always optimistic during her many treatments and kept a positive attitude, planning on getting back to UCLA. She was cancer-free for six months, and then the cancer returned in her brain. She still kept a positive attitude, and was determined to be as active as she could.
Stephanie is survived by her dad and mom, Don and Pat Melton, her sister Melissa Melton, brother Steve Melton, nieces Kelley Roush and Ali Vasquez, and nephew Anthony Melton.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Dani’s Foundation research fund for Ewing’s Sarcoma at www.danisfoundation.org.
