Shirley Olson

Shirley McGuire Olson, of Longmont, CO passed away at the age of 94. She was born in Chicago, Illinois to Ethel and Clayton McGuire, the oldest of three children followed by her sister, Barbara (Wier) and brother, Clayton.

Shirley graduated from South Shore High School where she met John Olson, AKA “Jack” and married in 1947. Together they raised six children: John Jr., Linda, Chris (Diane), Jeff (Kathy), Mark (Tricia) and Paul. She was a devoted wife and when Jack suddenly passed away in 1975, she carried on with her duties as a mother and homemaker with distinction while working part-time in the family owned insurance agency.

Shirley joined other family members with her move to Colorado in 1984. She continued to work because she wanted “to be useful”, she loved her log cabin in Estes Park, was a member of Shepard of the Hills Lutheran Church, did some traveling and was an inspiration to her family, friends and neighbors.

The family will hold a visitation at Crist Mortuary, 3395 Penrose Place, Boulder, CO 80301 on Friday, November 5th from 4PM to 8PM. Masks will be required.
