Ryan was passionate about many things. Golf, Alabama Crimson Tide football, music, politics, conspiracy theories, superheroes, debate and internet memes were just a few of his favorites. However, nothing was more important to Ryan than his family and friends.
Ryan dedicated nearly 23 of his 41 years on this Earth to the service of his country. Following his graduation from McClave High School, Ryan enlisted in the Navy; quickly rose to the rank of Chief and was later commissioned as a Limited Duty Officer (LDO) Security Officer. Always proud of his enlisted roots, Ryan was passionate about protecting the fleet.
Ryan was the definition of true grit. He attributed his success not to intelligence or talent, but to his willingness to work hard, frequently crediting his step-father, John with instilling that value in him. His career took him and his family to many places around the world with duty stations in Italy, England, the U.S. and most recently Japan. Ryan had a bright and promising future both in the Navy and in life.
Ryan was born on April 28, 1978 to the late Rodney Platt and Beverly (Campbell) Ming. He will be tremendously missed by his wife of nearly 20 years, Elizabeth (Belt) Platt; their children, Adam, Delaney, & Wyatt; his young cousin, Shiloh, whom he cared for as his own; his grandmother, Reva Platt; mother, Beverly Ming; step-father, John Ming; sister, Crystal Autry; her husband, JJ; nephew, Joe Cash; niece, Aspen; and lastly his wiener dog, Maggie, whom he loved dearly. Ryan was preceded in death by his father, Rodney.
A celebration of Ryan’s life will be held on Friday, March 20th 2:00 pm at Crist Mortuary with interment to follow at Mountain View Memorial Park in Boulder, CO.
