Phil's journey began as an exceptional wrestler, earning the title of Rocky Mountain Regional Champion in 1956 at 123 pounds, sparking a lifelong dedication to the sport he loved.
His professional path led him to elementary education, where Phil served as the Director of Personnel in Boulder, Englewood, and Denver Counties. Prior to that, he held the esteemed position of Principal at Burke Elementary in Boulder, CO. Beyond the classroom, Phil was a proud member of the Boulder County Growth Commission, contributing significantly to the historical richness of the community.
Phil's heart resonated with the great outdoors, and his adventurous spirit took him across Europe, Russia, and China. A devoted world traveler, he shared his knowledge by teaching English in China, imprinting the lives of those he encountered.
Amidst his numerous accomplishments, Phillip leaves behind a tapestry of love and family. He is survived by his children, Ken Martinez, Ron Austin, Lori Dempsey, and Rob Rohn. Fondly remembered by siblings Mack Martinez, Helene Clemente, Gerald Martinez, and Patsy Gallegos, he also shared enduring companionship with Geri Nolan, Nancy Rohn, and Tillie Lira.
Phillip Robert Martinez's life was woven with threads of dedication and love, leaving an indelible imprint on all who knew him. May his spirit of perseverance live on, echoing his timeless words: "Ain't nothing to it but to do it!" May he rest in eternal peace.
