Penny Carol Harris passed away peacefully on the morning of April 12, 2025, at the age of 79.
She was born in El Dorado, Arkansas, to Nolen and Genurl Harris. She played piano and organ for Immanuel Baptist Church during her youth and maintained a lifelong appreciation for music.
After graduating from nursing school in 1967, Penny began a long career in healthcare. She worked at Warner Brown Hospital and later at Union Medical Center in El Dorado, where she would eventually serve as director of emergency nursing. In 1988, she moved to Boulder, Colorado, working as a nurse at Boulder Memorial Hospital, later holding a nursing leadership role at Avista Hospital in Louisville. She retired in 2010 after more than 40 years in the nursing profession.
Penny enjoyed the natural beauty of Colorado. She also loved spending time with a dear friend of several decades, with whom she shared a love of cooking and live Colorado Rockies games.
She is survived by her son, Craig Rowland, and her grandchildren, Olivia, Caroline, and Ethan, all of Aurora, Colorado. She is also survived by her brother, Nolen Harris of Bella Vista, Arkansas, and her sister, Becky Harris of Bentonville, Arkansas.
