I returned to Boulder to hear of the passing of Pat.  I had the pleasure of knowing her three sons at Boulder High.  I also had the honor of working with Pat when she was in our Counseling Department.  Pat was a natural with the students and she brought wisdom and caring at a very high level.  Pat is one of the "good ones" that impacted not only the lives of her students but also those of us who had the joy of being her colleague.  Pat was a jewel of light, compassion, and love.

As it happens that on August 6th at the time of Pat's service I am already singing at another memorial service.  I will be holding Pat close in my heart.  

I send my heart-felt condolences to the family as I offer deep gratitude for having known this special soul!

Dear Paul,  I wish there were words to lessen the pain of Pat’s passing.  I am deeply saddened for you and your family.  I grieve her passing too.  We were close friends  in  school and our friendship spanned seven decades. I spoke with Pat a few weeks ago when you were planning a trip to Mexico.  We had a long talk about life, aging, politics (as you may know, we shared the same political views) and ended the conversation committing to getting together soon.  I am  grateful for that lovely talk. Pat was a role model for many of us - her kindness,  fairness,work ethic, sense of humor and adventurousness.   I never heard anyone say a negative word about Pat.  Please treat yourself gently and use the wonderful memories of your adventures together to fill the emptiness that her passing has brought. I should add to my previous post that Pat covered my back in all those teenage years and became the woman that we knew she would.

Pat was a very special mom, friend and community contributor. Her sons are very great human beings . My sympathy goes to them as well as to her many friends. Betty Parks.

Rest in peace, dear friend from long ago.  It was a real delight to grow up with you.
