Patricia Ann (Smith) Janssen of Boulder, Colorado passed away peacefully on Friday, August 8 in Leadville, Colorado. She was born March 25, 1953 in Portsmouth, Virgina to Dr. Thales Haskell Smith and Charone (Helberg) Smith. Patricia (Patty) was a bright spirit who touched all who met her. In her wonderful life she was a Montessori teacher, a savvy assistant to many executives, a community activist, and most dearly a dedicated mother and grandmother. She is survived by her husband, Steven Janssen; her children Carly (Shurtleff) Wier, Mandi (Shurtleff) Tieder, and Anna Lisa Hughes; her stepchildren Alyssa Janssen and Christopher Hughes; her precious grandchildren Amelia Tieder and Cecilia Tieder; her father, Dr. Thales Haskell Smith; and her siblings Thales Smith, Jr.; Sandy Francom; Lisa Elder, Stephanie Berg, Steven Smith, and Gregory Smith. She was preceded in death by her mother, Charone Helberg Smith. Visitation will be on Friday, August 15, from 2pm to 4pm at Crist Mortuary 3395 Penrose Place in Boulder, Colorado.
