Pao-Chin Ruseto Huang, 79, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, April 27, 2023 at his home in Longmont. On June 27, 1943, Pao was born in Dong Gang, in the province of Ping Tung, Taiwan to entrepreneur father Wan Lai Huang and housewife mother Bu Chan Zhong. Even at a very young age, Pao had an avid thirst for knowledge and desire to take care of others. His journey to becoming one of the first acupuncturists in Colorado included graduating from National Taiwan Ocean University in Navigation, sailing around the world as a Merchant Marine (even learned to speak Spanish), teaching Navigation at a college, and apprenticed in Chinese Traditional Medicine and Acupuncture under many friends, family, and masters. While he was busy with growing his talents in healing, he still made time to court Hui-Yu Tsai, even taking countless train rides for 12 hours one way just to win her heart. On October 1, 1968, Pao and Hui were married in a private ceremony and quickly grew their family to 6. With the help of his brother, Richard, Pao was able to immigrant to the United States with his family and started building his American Dream.
His start in the US was anything but easy. After working 16 hours a day at 3 odd jobs for many years, Pao and his wife saved enough money to establish Ruseto Center in Boulder, Colorado in 1986, an acupuncture and herbal medicine clinic that has served thousands upon thousands of people in the Boulder community and beyond. At that time, acupuncture was not well known or widely accepted as a medical treatment for any illness, but through years of his advocacy and persistence, acupuncture is now easily accessible to all. He was so passionate about people learning to heal themselves that he started Ruseto College in 1992.
Pao's life goal was to leave a legacy of learning, compassion, and healing. He was an author and student of life. He would drop everything to answer the call of distress no matter the time or distance. He was able to heal people with "incurable" diseases.
He is survived by 5 sibling's, his loving wife Hui, his daughter Tzu-Ling Huang of Longmont, CO, his son Chyihwa Huang of Superior, CO, his daughter Tzu-En Schafer (Jeff Schafer) of Broomfield, CO, his daughter Shiuan McMurry (Brian McMurry) of Venice, FL, and his grandchildren Kai McMurry and Meili McMurry.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Friday, May 5, 2023 from 10am to 12pm at Ruseto Center, 1750 30th Street, Suite 83, Boulder, CO, 80301.
In lieu of flower and gifts, his family is requesting you to donate to a charity of your choice that epitomizes education, compassion, and healing and/or share special memories of Pao. Most importantly, he would want you to take care of your own health.
