Days of Our Lives and the Broncos will have to go on without her. Mary Wickland passed away peacefully at Peaks Care Center in Longmont on Thursday November 20. She was 80 years old. Mary began life on March 20, 1934 in Muskegon, Michigan, youngest of five children born to Elmer and Alice Wickland. She graduated from Muskegon High School and attended the University of Colorado. She worked for a while at the Boulder Daily Camera until she found a job at the Rocky Flats Nuclear Weapons Plant in the Health and Safety Dept. where she worked until she retired. She never married.
She is survived by her brother Charles Wickland and his wife, Janice, sisters-in-Law, Shirley Wickland and Dottie Wickland, and many nieces and nephews: Susan Williamson (Rich Klug), Debbie Behrends (Bruce), David Wickland (Tammy), Terry Wickland (Rebecca), Paul Wickland (Joanne), John Wickland (Skye), Edward Wickland, Scott Wickland (Holly), and Laurie Eggers (Bill). She was preceded in death by her brothers Paul and Robert, sister Jane Kirby, and dear friend, Lela Underbakke.
Mary will be remembered for her sweetness and wry sense of humor, her appreciation of a good ham sandwich, and her passion for sports. Go Broncos!, go Rockies!, go Nuggets! and Buffs! Win one for Mary!
There will be a memorial service at Crist Mortuary, 3395 Penrose Place in Boulder on Dec. 4 at 1:00 pm. Burial will be at Mountain View Cemetery with reception following at Crist Mortuary.
