Eleanor was born in Napoleon, Michigan on May 13, 1922 to Ned and Gladys Ford. She attended Hillsdale College where she received her Bachelor’s degree, then on to the University of Michigan receiving her Master’s in Social Work. She taught school for a short time and worked for the Red Cross before pursuing her career as a Social Worker in Detroit.
In June of 1961, she re-united with and married her long-time friend, Wells A. Shulls, becoming mother to his daughter, Janet Ann, and moved to Boulder, Colorado. She was active in her church and community and loved gardening, camping and traveling, many times with her grandchildren. But most of all she was a loving and caring wife and mother, always with a smile.
Eleanor is survived by her daughter, Janet Hood (Steven) of Longmont, CO; three grandchildren, Erin Woodyard (Phil) of Arvada, Jamie Hood (Kevin Kirkpatrick) of Westminster, and Christopher Hood (Anna) of Loveland. She has six wonderful great-grandchildren, Cameron, Calin, Tyler, Hayle, Jayde and Holly and baby Hood due in September.
A celebration of Eleanor’s life will be held at Frasier Meadows on June 8, 2013 at 3:00pm. All who knew and loved Eleanor are invited. Private Interment.
