Mary Patricia Madigan, also known as Pat, passed away peacefully on November 21 at the age of 88. She was born to Lee and Isadora Anglin in Otter Creek, Iowa. Pat had an older brother, Walter. When Pat was nine, she moved to Dubuque, Iowa, with her family.
Pat met the love of her life, Howard Raymond Madigan, in Dubuque, and they married soon after. Together, they raised five children – Anne, Tim, Maureen, Marna, and Michael. Pat's family was at the center of her life, and she cherished them deeply. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brother. She is survived by her five children, 11 grandchildren, and numerous extended family members and friends.
Pat and her family moved to Boulder, Colorado, in 1969, where she founded the Boulder Al-Anon group, a support group for families and friends of alcoholics. Pat was known for her love, compassion, and selflessness, which was evident in how she devoted herself to her family, friends, and community. She worked at Country In The Village in Boulder and Erie for over two decades, touching many lives with her kindness and dedication.
In her final days, Pat received compassionate care from the individuals at Brookdale Boulder Creek, TruPace & TruCare – Boulder County Hospice, for which her family is grateful.
A funeral mass will be held at Sacred Heart of Jesus in Boulder for family and friends on Saturday, January 6, at 10:00 a.m. After the ceremony, there will be a reception in the church hall. Cremation has already taken place. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to TruCare – Boulder County Hospice in Pat's name.
"Though she may be gone from our sight, her memory lives on in our hearts." Pat will always be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and love towards her family and community.
