A memorial service in her honor will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, May 6th at Crist Mortuary in Boulder, CO.
Marianne was born in Dorchester, MA to Boston firefighter Walter and homemaker Mary Austin on September 20th 1952. Raised the eldest daughter in a boisterous Irish Catholic family, she had eight siblings – three sisters and five brothers – including two sets of fraternal twins. She attended Monsignor Ryan Memorial High School for Girls.
Ever the brave spirit, Marianne was the one family member to leave the Boston area, venturing to Colorado to embark on a new life with her two eldest children Rob and Suzanne in 1976. A few years later her identical twins, Maggie and Becky, were born in 1979. She was affectionately known as the matriarch of her family in Colorado yet maintained deep and strong ties to her Boston family roots.
Marianne was known for her moral fortitude, her belief in people leaving this world a little better than they found it, and her boundless love for her family. She was a second mom to so many, and touched the hearts of strangers on a daily basis. Marianne was a master gardener, avid animal lover, and embraced the Rocky Mountain lifestyle. Above all, her passion was her children, four grandchildren, friends, and of course – her beloved Corgi Jack.
Always regarded as a hard worker, loyal employee and dear friend to her colleagues she worked in a variety of roles and industries in the Boulder area, including publishing, mental health services, and technology. Most recently, she worked as an Executive Assistant to the CEO at Webroot from which she retired in late-2016.
Marianne is preceded in death by her parents Walter and Mary Austin and her nephew John Austin.
Marianne is survived by her children Robert Loud, Suzanne Barber (Darroll), and twins Maggie Pattillo (Aaron) and Rebecca Armstrong (Ian); her siblings Walter, John, William, Mike, Paul, Rita, Anne, and Jeanne; her beloved grandchildren James, Lindsay, Mark, and Ellie; and her ex-husband and supportive friend Charlie McAllaster.
Donations in Marianne’s name can be made to the Boulder Humane Society. Arrangements under the direction of Crist Mortuary, Boulder, CO.
