Joe Berta was born in 1950 in Toledo, Ohio. He was the second son of Mary and Joseph Berta. Joe graduated from the University of Toledo; then studied at the University of Colorado where he received his PhD in psychology. Joe was hired as an adjunct at the university. Eventually he was hired full time as an assistant professor in the Psychology Department. Joe had varied interests and talents. He was an accomplished artist, and experimented in various mediums. Joe was also strongly interested in electronics. He was a lifelong student of philosophy, psychology, and literature. Overall, Joe was a talented, curious, and empathetic human being. He will be greatly missed by his family and his friends. Joe is survived by his brother, Jim (Maryam), nephew Jason, niece Jaime (Ben), and four grand nephews and two grand nieces.
