Joe Jim Skudler

Joe was born in Lincoln, Nebraska, on January 2, 1930, to Edward O. and Marjorie (Hebbard) Skudler. After growing up on the family farm, he joined the Navy in 1952. It was during his time in the service he met his bride-to-be, Marion Manchester, at the skating rink at Lincoln Park in Massachusetts. They were married on November 7, 1953, in New Bedford, Massachusetts. They moved to Boulder, Colorado in 1959 where Joe was an electronics technician at the National Bureau of Standards until his retirement in 1988. They have lived in Longmont since 1992. Joe enjoyed traveling with his family, playing golf, and bowling on various teams through the years. He was a member of New Creation Church and enjoyed many years of fellowship there until his health prevented him from attending.

Joe is survived by his loving wife, Marion, of 61 years, his daughters, Debra (Gary) Nichols of Longmont, and Susan George of Longmont, and his son, Steven (Sharon Myrah) Skudler of Fort Collins, his grandchildren Brooke (Jason) Walker of Mead, Whitney (Jesus Hidalgo) Nichols of Denver, and Quinten Nichols of Longmont, and 6 great grandchildren, Jack Walker, and Vanessa, Marissa, Marcus, Lenaya, and Alyssa Hidalgo.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Edward O. Skudler, Jr., and two sisters, Shirley Abbott and Donna Mattern.

Viewing will be Wednesday, March 18, 2015, from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. at Crist Mortuary, 3395 Penrose Place, Boulder, Colorado 80301.
