James A. Martin, the last survivor of the three children of A.L. "Del" Martin and Hazel E. Brink- Martin was born in Colfax, Iowa, November 22, 1923. He passed away May 22 at the age of 93 years 6 months. He has resided in Boulder Colorado since moving from Iowa in September of 1961. Jim grew up in Colfax and attended Colfax Schools, the University of Iowa, and Iowa State University. He worked as a mechanical engineer for the Maytag Company in Newton, Iowa, the Dow Chemical Company, and the IBM Corporation in Boulder, Colorado. On September 1957, James was married to Margaret Pearson. Jim was a member of the Mountain View Methodist church. He was twice past Master of the Riverside Masonic Lodge in Colfax, Iowa. Served in the United States Navy, in the Pacific during World War II, on the USS Pensacola. Survivors include his wife, Margaret; two sons, James Martin Jr.(Judy), Boulder Colorado, John Martin(Tonya), Grand Junction, Colorado; two daughters, Joan Martin, Longmont, Colorado and Julie Bunker(Jim), North Platte, Nebraska; and 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. His parents; a grandson, Daniel Martin; and two brothers, Leo A. Martin and Robert W. Martin preceded him in death. He will be remembered as a humble man, who served his country, and loved his family. Funeral services will be held on May 25th at 2:00 p.m. at the Crist Mortuary Chapel, 3395 Penrose Place, Boulder.
