Herman "Andy" Anderson died on October 23, 2012 at Fraser Meadows Manor in Boulder. He was born in Mullan, Idaho on October 13, 1912 to Hannah and Klaus Anderson. He is survived by his loving wife, Mariette, with whom he celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary last November; children Patricia Petersen of North Kingstown, RI, Janis George of Chattaroy, WA, Richard "Dick" Anderson of Coral Gables, FL, and Robert "Bobby" Anderson of La Quinta, CA; 8 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Andy graduated from Washington State University in Chemistry in 1935 and worked for Dow Chemical Company in Midland, Michigan until 1951 when they transferred him to the Rocky Flats plant as Manager of Labs. Besides family activities he was an Elder of the First Presbyterian Church, on the Community Hospital Board, and also belonged to the Lions Club of Boulder, the Society for Non-Destructive Testing, the American Chemical Society and Boulder Country Club.
Andy was an excellent athlete, enjoying golf and skiing well into his 90's. He took special pride in watching his sons during their football years at BHS, CU, the Miami Dolphins and the Denver Broncos.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at First Presbyterian Church of Boulder. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to HospiceCare of Boulder and Broomfield Counties or First Presbyterian Church of Boulder.
