Helen was born to Everard Nahrgang and Nannie Bowen Nahrgang on November 10, 1922 in Geneva, NE. She graduated from Geneva High School as Valedictorian of the Class of 1940. She attended Nebraska Wesleyan University and joined the U.S. Marine Corp in 1944. Helen served at Quantico, VA and the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. She was honorably discharged in May, 1946. After her service, Helen moved to Boulder, CO to join her brother, Dr. George Nahrgang, a well-known local osteopath. Here, she met and married Gerald Tooker. Helen and Jerry raised two daughters in Boulder. She worked at Connie’s Secretarial Service and was in Human Resources, Payroll and Personnel at First National Bank at Canyon and Broadway until her retirement.
Helen loved her family and was a loyal friend to many. She shared her humorous wit often and will be truly missed and remembered with a smile.
She is survived by two daughters; Ann Brandt (Bob) of Longmont, CO and Billie Pringle (Ed McGill) of Erie, CO. Helen is also survived by four grandchildren; Cori Henze Piper (Kevin), Amy Henze, Adam Pringle and Chad Pringle (Sara) and five great grandchildren; Jacy Pringle, Colton Piper, Makenzie Piper, Jessica Piper and Elise Pringle; and her beloved kitty Sophie. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 22 at 10:30 a.m. at Crist Mortuary located at 3395 Penrose Place, Boulder, CO. Helen and her husband, Gerald, will both be interned at a later date at Fort Logan National Cemetary.
