My family lived next to the Yoss' in the early/mid 70's.  I fondly remember always being welcome in their home and his amazing model train set that I'm  surprised I was allowed anywhere near, (as I was a rather rambunctious 7 year old!) Many a summer day was spent playing in the beautiful rock garden, as well.  Blessed Be Gene and sincere hugs to all the family..

Gene always had a great smile on his face.  He was so wonderful with all of  the boys in Cub Scouts.  We remember the orange gloves so well too.  He also loved to cook at the Cub Scout picnic each year.  We appreciate all that Gene did for the Cub Scouts and express our sincere condolences to Gene's family.

Gene, was a great Cub Scout trainer, he trained me and many more.  May I express my condolences along with my husband. To your family.

I remember the orange spangled gloves, the mis-timed sittings and standings, not sure about the song, but very sure and appreciative  of the time and energy that Gene gave to the Cubs.

Gene and LaVerne and my parents Ann & Jerry Woeste were childhood friends from Greendale Wisconsin.  My husband, Mark, and I were fortunate to be part of their reunions here in Colorado.  Since 1995 we met numerous times for lunch or dinner where hilarious stories were shared.  Many jokes and fond memories were relived.  These were special memories that I shall treasure always.  My sincere condolences to all family and friends.  Gene is truly missed by many.

We were neighbors on Tamarack Ave and our children grew up together. Jay and Kayt lost their Dad  14 years ago. They send their condolences to Bobby, Linda,  Julie and La Verne, as do I. Gene was a very helpful neighbor and an involved dad. I know he will be missed..

Gene had a special gift and was adored by the Cub Scouts whose lives he touched.  He will always hold a special place in our hearts.

Gene was our son Brady's cub scout master.  Brady was a bit of a challenge and had a lot of special needs.  When Gene found out that we had adopted Brady, he took the time to send us a beautiful note telling us how much he appreciated families like ours who adopted children with such high needs.  Th note was so heartfelt.  When Brady passed at age 12, one of the faces that stood out to me at Brady's memorial was Gene's - he gave me such a look of compassion that it gave me strength to get through the horrible day.  I know that Gene has touched so many lives and it has been an honor to have known him.

As a close personal family friend, Gene was such a special part of growing up for us. We are deeply saddened by this loss. He seemed a permanent part of everything from scouts, to school graduations, to family gatherings, to weddings.  His kind nature and huge personality will be remembered always.  Our love goes to the Yoss family and our gratitude for allowing us to share in his life as well as having him be such a wonderful part of ours. My son (now almost an Eagle Scout) went all the way through Cub Scouts in Pack 179 with Gene Yoss.  He was a great packmaster (for 40 years) and boys absolutely loved him.  He touched a lot of lives and inspired a lot of boys.  We won't see another like him. Farewell Gene.

I will fondly remember the BBQs in his expansive back yard.  The shade from the trees on hot July days, the smell of bratwurst grilling, the wild Frisbee Golf course, and the good company and conversations all stand out vividly in my mind.  He was a very generous person and gave freely of his time and wisdom.  Thanks for all you did, Gene!

Gene Yoss was also very involved with North Boulder Little League.  I had a great opportunity to umpire with Gene and we loved to talk about old times.    We are truly going to miss him.  Matthew Bohn
