Florence Alice Rutherford was born to Day and Nellie Newbold on December 1, 1928, in Otis Colorado. She was one of 12 siblings. She loved telling stories of growing up with her brothers and sisters in Lowell, Nebraska and other places.
She had three children: Dale, Nolon, and Donna. Florence loved to give her children castor oil for their ailments. She lived in several places in Colorado including Laporte, Ft. Collins and Boulder with a short stint in California. She worked for CU Boulder and retired from there.
She was married twice. With her second marriage she had the opportunity to travel the world. She was so delighted to see so many things she had only read about or seen pictures of. Later in life she moved to Wheatland Wyoming where she spent roughly 15 years. She loved the small community feel. As her health declined, she was moved to Greeley where she died on September 13, 2023. She was 94 years old.
