The eldest child of Charles and Georgiana Ressequie, she was born September 9, 1920 in Jordan, NY. She was married to George Dwyer for 25 years and is survived by daughter, Gigi, son-in-law, Gerry and grandchildren, Erik and Annika and grand dog, Cedric all of Louisville, Colorado.
A graduate of Delhi Technical School in Home Economics, she joined the military during WWII as a WAC and was stationed at Pearl Harbor until the war ended. Her proudest military moment was while at Cooks and Bakers School where she was asked to cook for First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt. Her career in food service continued with many years at SkyChefs. Her first time living in Colorado was in the 1950s when she opened the restaurant at Stapleton Airport. She married George in 1962 and was a homemaker/mother for many years before returning to the workforce. In the 1970’s and 80’s she worked as the “lunch lady” for the Broward County School District in Florida and retired to Leesburg, FL in 1984. Her husband, George, died in 1987. She began following Gigi’s family after the birth of her first grandchild in 1996, moving to Atlanta then Kansas City and finally Colorado in 1999.
Esther was an avid reader (especially of the Bible) and social butterfly. She also made beautiful art from sea shells so it is only natural that her request for a final resting place is at sea.
“One of the things I loved most about Aunt Esther was the
way her face lit up whenever she smiled” (her beloved niece, Ann)
A celebration of her life will be held Sunday, November 14th 2010 at 2:00 pm at Sunrise Assisted Living, 3955 28th St., Boulder
