On Monday, June 6, 2022, David Durst passed away at the age of 76. David and his twin sister, Robin, were born on July 14, 1945, in Corpus Christi, Texas. His family moved to England, birthplace of his mother, when he was 8 years old. Upon graduating from grammar school in England, David joined the US Navy when he was 18. At the age of 20, he met and married Ruth. They moved to the United States where he attended the University of Washington on a naval scholarship, graduating with a degree in atmospheric science. Wendy and Paul were both born during those years in Seattle.
David served in the Navy for over 25 years, many of which he spent on submarines, before retiring in 1986 in Virginia. He then worked in Washington DC for several years before they moved to Colorado where David finished his career working at Rocky Flats.
During retirement, David and Ruth traveled extensively throughout the world, sharing adventures and making memories together.
David is survived by Ruth, Wendy and Paul, his grandchildren, Abby and Braden, and his sister Robin.
