Andrew E. Valdez Jr.

Boulder resident Andrew Ernest Valdez Sr., born April 8th, 1936 passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 27th, 2019 with his family surrounding him with love. He is preceded in death by his parents, Roman and Guadalupe (Rivera) Valdez, his sons, Gregory “Wardy” Gerard and Andrew Ernest Valdez Jr., his brothers Roman Valdez and Anthony Valdez and many other loved family members. He is survived by Nellie (Espinoza), his loving wife of 62 years, their son, David (Darlene) Valdez and daughter, Mavi Gina (Joe) Valdez-Apodaca. In addition, their grandchildren, Andrew (Rory) Valdez III, Vicente (Ruby) Apodaca, Alejandro Apodaca, Brianna Apodaca, Adrianna Valdez and Michael Valdez. Great-grandchildren Jonnianne Valdez, Dominique Valdez, Noemi Cortez, Vicente Apodaca Jr. and Ariela Apodaca. All who truly adored him, loving him dearly and will cherish him always.

Andrew Valdez was born in Capulin, Colorado. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1957 to 1961. He went on to college, attending Adam State and Regis, before becoming a teacher with the Boulder Valley School District where he taught for 30 years. He was beloved by all his students both young and old. Summers, he was also employed with the State Department of Employment.

Andrew had a tremendous work ethic surpassed by none and became very successful in business and real estate. He participated with his church and community as a Reserve Police Officer. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and most of all spending time with his “sweetheart” wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was a great example to us all. With a constant smile and a positive attitude he spent time with each one of us individually, making all of us feel loved and special, motivated to conquer the world.

On Saturday, July 6th, 2019, family, friends, and others whose lives Andrew touched are invited to Crist Mortuary, 3395 Penrose Place, Boulder, CO 80301. Visitation will be 9:30-10:30a.m., Rosary 10:30-11:00a.m., Memorial Mass 11:00-12:00p.m. and the Reception will follow.
