Alejandro Acosta, 39, unexpectedly passed away Thursday, July 15, 2021, after being struck by a vehicle while doing what he loved best, biking in the mountains of Boulder, CO. He was the middle child of three, born in Bogota, Colombia to Melba and Enrique Acosta. At a young age, he already showed promising athletic abilities in biking, soccer and competitive skit shooting, even winning the youth national championship at 16. After living through several perilous years of political disarray his family made the difficult decision to relocate to United States when Alejandro was 18 years old.
While living in Miami, his love of electronic music flourished, inspiring him to produce and preform his own music under the name AcostaMusic. Although his clubbing lifestyle would soon be altered after moving with his family to Madison, WI. While studying International Relations, he was still successfully invested in his musical talents with weekly gigs at the popular underground bar Nattspil as well as several venues in Chicago, IL. In 2007, during his last year at Edgewood College, Alejandro met his wife Anna through a shared Economics class; the two soon married after only 3 short months.
Alejandro’s curiously confident self taught desire to challenge himself mentally and physically took off from there. Having worked as an Apple Genius for six years, his technological skills strengthen and he started a small production company for web design, photography and videography called Capture Madison. Coincidentally bringing him to the finish line of an Ironman race that ignited a new passion, triathlons. The following year Alejandro was no longer just a spectator, but an Ironman finisher!
In 2017, Alejandro moved to Boulder and had never been happier having tapped into the local biking community and eventually working for a small start up tech company called ZingFit. He was a man of many talents and many roles. Artist, designer, iOS developer, brother, friend, colleague, husband, but most excitingly, soon to be father. His generous and loving personality will forever be imprinted in those lucky enough to have known him.
Alejandro is survived by his wife, Anna Acosta; his mother Melba Obando; two brothers Enrique and Matias Acosta; sister-in-law Amanda Acosta and niece, Violet.
The family sends a very special thanks to the biking community, work colleagues at ZingFit/Xplor, Crist Mortuary, and all others for their out poor of love and support.
There will be a private memorial at 1:00pm, July 23, 2021 at Crist Mortuary. Inurnment to follow at Mountain View Memorial Park.
