Born February 5, 1934, in Tacoma, WA, died April 11, 2024, in Kirkland, WA, aged 90 years. Ruth was the 2nd youngest of 10 kids, her parents and extended family moving from the Midwest to Tacoma, to become among the first employees of the DuPont plant in 1910. As a child, Ruth moved to Jacksonville and Ashland, Oregon where she met her first husband, Jerry Gleaves; later returning to the Seattle-Tacoma area in 1956 to raise their sons. She worked for many years in the title industry before retiring in the late 1980's. Some of her hobbies included golf, karaoke, and camping. She was also an avid reader and great cook. In later years, she enjoyed planning events for her retirement community in Burien, WA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bessie (nee Wheelon) and Clyde Mitchell; her siblings, Pat Earl, Violet Morris, Eva Rose, Douglas, Warren "Cush", Edward "Bob", Lawrence, Donald, and Doris McCandliss; and one son, Mark Gleaves.
Ruth is survived by her sons, Steven (Kathy) Gleaves, David Gleaves, Martin (Ginny) Gleaves & Daniel Gleaves, a stepdaughter Shelby Mowrey-Maas, 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, one great, great grandchild, & her close friend, Margaret.
Per her wishes, no services will be held.
