Dave was born August 15, 1954 in Seattle, Washington, the third of eight siblings to Thomas and Diana Iwata. Like most of his siblings, he attended parochial schools, St. George Elementary and O’Dea High School.
After high school, Dave worked a series of jobs both local and also in Fairbanks, Alaska before settling into a career as a sales rep for a geotextile company. In his spare time he enjoyed many outdoor activities; skiing, golfing, year round hiking, landscaping and many handyman tasks. His adult years were devoted to educating himself about anything and everything.
Dave was very open and willing to help others. He taught all of his golfing siblings the fundamentals and shared his hiking knowledge. Many friends report his willingness to come over and help with pruning or car maintenance. As his parents became more dependent, he took it upon himself to maintain their yard and garden. Anyone familiar with the Iwata house knows this was not an easy task.
Dave led an independent lifestyle. He prided himself in his self-reliance. He had a charming and amused way about him that made his friends and family comfortable in his presence. Dave was never malicious or argumentative. He always had time for dogs and cats.
Dave is pre-deceased by his parents Diana and Tom and his oldest brother Stan. He is survived by his brothers and sisters Maggie, Andy, Gordy, Ann, Roger and Jeff and their immediate families.
RIP Dave, in a place where your ball always finds the fairway, the ski slopes are cold and powdery, and the mountains are rugged and beautiful.
