Paul E. Rivers, age 77 of Boston, formerly of Reading and South Portland, Maine passed away peacefully on January 29, 2024, with his family by his side at Mass General Hospital after a very brief illness.
Son of the late Franklin M. Rivers and Jeanette F. Rivers; Beloved husband of 45 years of Dorothy J. Rivers; Outstandingly devoted father of Taylor M. Rivers and her husband David R. McVeigh of Sausalito, CA and Gregory F. Rivers of San Francisco, CA.
Paul was a Doctor of Education. He deeply impacted the lives of so many students at Bunker Hill Community College during his 3 decades as a Professor of Accounting and Finance. He also served as Dean of the School of Business Administration for several years.
The most important thing to Paul throughout his entire life was his family. Spending quality time together surpassed all else, whether sitting on a park bench in Charlestown, or meandering through the streets of Europe, Paul was always appreciating the simple things in life that often get overlooked. He was the most patient and loving soul, who brightened the lives of everyone he came into contact with, a true treasure!
Paul was a continuous learner and had many hobbies. Practicing guitar, shooting hoops, biking for miles on end, kayaking on the Charles River, working as a deckhand on the Boston Harbor Cruises, Yoga and drawing are some of the things he did until his passing. He loved his Granddog, Sal–and all dogs for that matter, he loved Maine, and any opportunity to get out in the fresh air!
Paul was also the cherished brother of the late David M. Rivers and his wife Diane, Stephen Rivers and his wife Arlene, Eddie Rivers and his wife Alex; Adored brother-in-law of the late Eileen Kelliher and her husband Michael, Joyce Juliano, and Tricia Juliano. Treasured uncle of Bryon Rivers and his wife Erica, Heidi Ware and her husband Greg, Sara Fowler and her husband Dave, Austin Rivers, Chris Rivers, Stacey Tully and her husband Mark, Michael Kelliher and his wife Brenda, Jessica and Eileen Kelliher.
Paul’s family welcomes you to attend the Memorial Service to remember and celebrate his life at J.S. Waterman Langone Chapel, 580 Commercial St. Boston, MA on Friday February 9, 2024 from 3:00pm-7:00pm, with a Funeral Mass on Saturday February 10, 2024 at 10:00am at St. Leonard Church, 320 Hanover St. Boston, MA.
