John Michael Rosenberg

John Michael Rosenberg 52, passed away on November 7th, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his mother and father, Deirdre and David Rosenberg, brother Chris Rosenberg and sister in law Natalie Rosenberg. Uncle to William, Emma, Julia, Audrey, Olivia and Sabrina, nephew to Vicky, Jack, Ramona, Karla, Jimmy and Janet, and cousin to Katherine, David, Renee and Brian, John will be missed by all.

John was born on March 17, 1972, at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston Massachusetts. John lived his entire life in Boston, went to Boston Public Schools, and graduated from South Boston High School. John held several jobs as a grocery bagger, working at Star Market, Whole Foods and Johnny’s Food Market for many years. John was a very social individual, and often organized his group of friends to go to the movies and out for lunch or dinner. He participated in a monthly supper club and frequently attended programming at the JCC.

There were many things John loved, and he frequently converted friends and family members to join in his interests. He adored the show Doctor Who, and knew absolutely everything there was to know about the show and its cast of characters. He was a huge Boston Red Sox fan, and no matter what the score or how many games behind they were John would always say “don’t you worry, the Red Sox are gonna win.” John loved the movies, and for decades went every weekend with his friends. He loved eating, particularly if no vegetables were involved, and as much as he enjoyed going to the movies, he loved going out to eat even more.

John was loving, smart, a wee bit stubborn and lived an active, engaged and rich life with Down Syndrome. John was the glue that bound our family, and his absence is deeply felt by all.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024 at 11am in the Bigelow Chapel of Mount Auburn Cemetery, 580 Mt. Auburn St., Cambridge. In lieu of flowers, donations in John's memory may be made to a charity of one's choice.
