On August 26, 2017, Hong Woo "Arthur" Lee age 77, longtime resident of Brookline, Massachusetts, passed away surrounded by his loving family. Son of the late Wee Loon Lee and survived by his 100 year old mother, Gan Toy Lee, Hong Woo is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years of marriage, Alice Wong Lee; four children Amy Lee, Andrew Lee (wife Lilly), Angela Lee Chan (husband Ed), and Allen Lee (wife Lorraine). He was the proud grandfather of Alex, Donovan, Rheanna, Owen, Krista, Annabelle, Ian, Brady, Mia and Abigail, beloved brother of Suzanne Lee (husband Tak Matsusaka), Terry Lui (husband Dr. Raymond Lui), uncle of Kenji, Tim, and Ted (wife Sou).
Born in Toishan, China, Hong Woo came to the United States as a teenager to join his late father. Always hardworking, he was a proud businessman in the restaurant industry for over 40 years, most notably the Honolulu Restaurant in Westboro, MA. He was a civic activist volunteering for his family association. He will be most remembered as a man dedicated to his family, spending countless hours caring for his aging mother, his wife and his active ten grandchildren – providing loving childcare in their younger years and spending family time together as they grew older.
Visiting hours will be on Thursday, August 31 from 5pm to 8pm at Boston Harborside Home of J.S. Waterman & Sons Waring-Langone, 580 Commercial St., Boston. Funeral services will be at the same location of Friday, Sept. 1 from 9am to 11am. Procession to Walnut Hill Cemetery in Brookline will follow.
