CHIN, Chester Gwock W. passed away on December 13, 2012 in Mountain View, CA. He was born in Canton, China in 1921 and emigrated to the United States as a youngster in 1936. He settled for a while in Portland, ME where he obtained his citizenship. He was a WWII veteran in the US Army with the 29th Division of the 116th Infantry in France and England. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart. "Chester" and his late wife "Dolly" were the proprietors of the former Cathay City restaurant in Randolph.
Devoted father of Arthur Chin, Belinda Hugh and her husband Richard Macneil, Edwin Chin, Lester Chin and his wife Judith, Sally Chin and her husband Leonard Low, Alvin Chin and his domestic partner Jeremy Saz, and adopted son Ling Chin and his wife Lisa. Loving grandfather of Christopher, Ashley, Robert, Jeremy, Andrew, Wesley, Sarina and Lindsey. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, December 27 from 5:00 to 9:00 pm at Deware Funeral Home, 576 Hancock Street, Quincy. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday, December 28 from 8:00 am to 10:00 am followed by a procession to Forest Hills Cemetery, Boston.
