Edwin Yat Wai Hui, age 85, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2022. Devoted husband to Bik Yuk (Yuen) Hui. He was the loving father of Shirley and husband Robert Stickle, Anne and husband Terry Tsai, Philana and husband Caleb Hampton, Garvin Hui and Alexandria Hui. Edwin is also survived by his ten cherished grandchildren: Jack, Jacob, Colette, Noah, Ingrid, Corinne, Kara, Tristan, Camille and Charlotte, and many beloved nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and nephews, and great-grand-nieces and nephews.
Edwin was born in Toishan, Guangdong Province, China and grew up in Hong Kong before immigrating to the U.S. He returned to Hong Kong to marry Bik Yuk and moved back to NYC with his new wife. They eventually settled in Boston. They were married for 56 years. He worked long and hard hours in restaurants and laundromats before owning his own laundromat business. As a result of his determination, he was able to support his family and provide for his children's education, and together with Bik Yuk, raised successful, caring adults. He was an avid fan of the Patriots, the Red Sox and professional wrestling. He had a love for history, politics, coin collecting, having dim sum, Burger King and most of all, his grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to join the family during visiting hours on Saturday, January 7, 2023 from 9AM to 11AM followed by the funeral service at J.S. Waterman Langone, 580 Commercial St., Boston. Complimentary valet parking will be available. Service will conclude with interment at Newton Cemetery, 791 Walnut St., Newton, MA.
