Beverly was raised in Providence by her maternal aunt, Charlotte Brennan, and attended East Providence High School. Shortly after her graduation from high school, Beverly moved to Boston, where she lived for nearly fifty years. Following a long career at the former Eastern Airlines, Beverly founded Park Plaza Travel, a highly regarded boutique travel agency in Boston. While Beverly was a successful businesswoman, it was her unflagging generosity of spirit and genuine delight in her large extended family and many friends that will remain her true and enduring legacy. Be they prominent public figures, professional athletes, family members or her numerous friends and acquaintances, all were enriched by her grace and empathy. Beverly was married to the late former Massachusetts Representative, Anthony Burke.
She leaves her brother, Theodore Desilets, her cousins, Tom Holt and his wife Jane, Nancy Gilbane and husband Bill, Patricia Duggan, and Lisa Russo and her husband Joe, David Brennan and Stephen Brennan. Beverly is also fondly remembered by her numerous godchildren and members of the Burke and D’Arcy families, all of whom occupied a special place in her heart.
A memorial service will be held at the Four Seasons Hotel, Grand Ballroom, on Friday, September 21, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. Donations may be made in her name to the National Pancreas Foundation or the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
